Newprint

Sally and Robbie New have supported this Club for what seems to be an eternity.  The Yearbook that Newprint produces for the club, at no charge, is a fantastic asset to the club and adds a whole new dimension of professionalism to KLUSC. Committee members are always wandering around to the Patriarch Drive premises for Business Cards, Raffle Books, Membership Cards and any other printingrequirements where time is of the essence.  The cost that would be incurred by the club would be astronomical if it weren’t for the enormous generosity of Newprint.

The Beach Restaurant

Support one of our newest sponsors by going out for lunch or dinner at The Beach.  With the relaxed atmosphere and the excellent cuisine, you can’t go wrong.  Just phone 6229 7600 to make your booking and enjoy!

The Finishing Touch

Do you need someone for interior or exterior painting, wallpaper hanging, roof painting or decorative finishes? Then, Vince Grimes is your man! Vince has been a member of KLUSC for over 15 years and a proud sponsor for over 10 years.  The Finishing Touch services all areas, so give him a call on 0407 402697, fax on 6227 1001 or email finishingtouch@our.net.au.

Quiz/Auction Report - June

This was a great night.  The quiz caused people some problems, but nobody had any trouble with the Auction. Although, you do have to worry when you get bidders becoming quite agitated over a pack of coathangers – they worked it out between themselves in the end!  The auction raised valuable funds for the club and hopefully can become a standard part of the social calendar in future years, providing the club receives plenty of donations.  The quiz had two winners - the outright winners and the wooden spooners.  It would be unfair to mention names, but they know who they are!

Referees – Where Would We Be Without Them?

Now there’s a thought.  We are very quick to criticise them, but what would it be like with no official referees?  There would be no structure to a game, complete mayhem and no decision-making that would be acceptable to any player.  They sacrifice their weekends to try to make the game fair. A prime example was the Mens Division Four match on 24th July.  A referee had not been supplied for a crucial match for the Kingborough team and after several phone calls by the club president he managed to contact a referee directly.  This person was in the middle of a barbecue and immediately threw aside his apron and tongs to come and referee the game at Lightwood Park.  This side of a referee is often looked over.  What a guy!  Thanks Peter!

Soccer’s Feminine Side

Female soccer at KLUSC has excelled this year with two senior teams, an Under 14 Girls team and two Under 12 Girls teams.  It is great to see so many young players coming through from juniors up to seniors.  Don’t forget that a lot of the girls at senior level started as juniors!  Having said that, there were quite a few first-timers in Womens Division One this season.  In the end there were 30 registered players for the two Womens squads with 3 more prospective players already on the cards for next year.  So how good would it be to have 3 senior Womens teams at KLUSC?

Well, this is a message to all female supporters of sport, teamwork, soccer and fun. Register your details for next year!  Contact either John Fox (Senior Womens Coach) on 0419 269 353 or Fiona Harms (Keen Newcomer to playing soccer!) on 6229 3391 or email treasurer@klusc.org.au.

Nude Wines

The clubs fundraising with Nude Wine finishes on the 31 August 05.

So hurry in and buy some wine and you will be supporting the club. To sample some of the wines tasting is available at Nude Wines located at 153 Argyle Street, Hobart.

To place an order, drink some great wine and support the club, simply fill out the order form and return it.  You can obtain this form from the previous issue of KLUSC News, at the club website www.klusc.org.au, by fax on 6273 4133 or through email at treasurer@klusc.org.au.  It’s not so difficult – you have plenty of options! Remember, for every purchase, the club receives 10% of total price.

Invaluable Sponsorship

Sponsors are vital to the club.  If we didn’t have sponsors the club would suffer financially and in turn its members and players would not receive the benefits that are often provided by the sponsors. So remember to look down the list for any of your needs and consider them as they are here for the club.
