Marcus Bremner - Under 14 State representative

Kingborough Lions United is proud to announce that Marcus Bremner has been named in the Tasmanian U/14 squad that will travel to Coffs Harbour in September to contest the U/14 National Championship (formerly known as the National Talent Identification Championships).

Marcus is the first Kingborough player to be selected under Soccer Tasmania’s controversial new Athlete Development Programme (ADP). As a member of the state squad, Marcus will unfortunately not be permitted to play for his club, but we will see him on the park when he lines up against us, albeit in an older age group.

Marcus continues his climb upward and his selection in the 2006 State team follows on from last year’s ‘Most Promising Player’ award in Kingborough’s illustrious U/13 Black team that were runners up in their league. We wish him well and hope that when he returns to play with his Kingborough team mates in the not too distant future, he will be bigger and better than ever.

Needless to say, we hope that he excels on his development pathway and will ensure that Kingborough Lions United Soccer Club continues to be synonymous with the development of football excellence.

Good luck, young man, and good luck to your Tasmanian team mates for the September Nationals.

We also wish to acknowledge Gieren Gabatel who was also invited to trial but was unfortunate in not being selected in the final squad. This club will be working with Gieren and his other club mates that wish to set their sights higher than just having a kick each Saturday by inviting them to become the inaugural members of Kingborough’s ‘Lions Edge’ Development Programme when it is launched very soon.
