Coach Induction Course
Central Region organised an Induction Course for coaches of junior teams who are experiencing their first year at coaching. The course was opened to any coach in the area and 60 budding coaches rolled up at Lightwood Park despite inclement weather.
The course was conducted by Soccer Tasmania’s Director of Coaching, David Abela; who was visiting the complex for the first time and was impressed with the facility and with the work being undertaken on the main ground.
It is envisaged the Complex will be used for future Soccer Tasmanian courses.
Lion’s Edge Development Program
A group comprising Coaches (Tim Dale & Geoff Freeman) together with players (Chris Sanita, Marcello Marchioli, Brett Andrews, Mark Iseli, Matthew Lyle & Jack Watchorn) left last Saturday for a week long “working” visit to Melbourne.
The group will be training with Moreland City, Senior Coach being Steve Chetcuiti, throughout the week as well as taking in a few matches Oakleigh v Preston and Moreland City v Yarraville.
Tabloid Sports
The Lightwood Park Complex has been booked for a further expo of Tabloid Sports during late October for all schools in the area.
Come & Try Soccer Clinic
Huon & Channel Primary Schools Association has approached the Club to assist with the organisation of a Come& Try Clinic to be held at Lightwood Park on 26th May and at Huoville 23rd May.
Ground Renovations
Considerable work has been done on Ground 1 and due to a delay with the tender process, it is unlikely the ground will come on-line until early\mid June. Ground 2 will be used for senior and youth matches with Sherburd Park being used for juniors and considerable training sessions.
The work has been funded by the Kingborough Council and undertaken by Aquamaster Irrigation (Nic Hansen).
