Preseason Newsletter

To All Players and Officials

On behalf of your Committee may I extend our thanks for your contribution during the past and trust you will be considering lining up with the Lions in 2007.

Since the completion of the 2006 season there has been a considerable change in the registration system throughout Australia and certain implications will impact on how the Club addresses registrations during 2007. Football Federation of Australia has recently introduced the National Registration Regulations which will apply to all states and territories as from 2007.

Club Registration System

There are a number of significant changes which has forced the Club, and all other Tasmanian Clubs, into revamping our registration system. As from 2007 the following will be in place for all players including Seniors, Youth & Juniors:

Registration Applications  - need to be supported by:

  1. Proof of Birth - which means producing Original or an Extract  of Birth Certificate, Passport or Drivers Licence. Club retains copy only with original being returned.

  1. Identity Evidence - for players who were registered with the Club in 2006 and had a Team Photograph taken then that will be used as proof of identity. New players will have to produce some photographic evidence. The Club is considering purchasing a Digital Camera to assist with this requirement.

  1. Ages are to be calculated as from 1st January 2007.

  1. Registration Days for various leagues are detailed below.

Senior Teams - 8th & 15th February Lightwood Park following training

Youth Teams (U13-U17) - 3rd & 10th March Lightwood Park  10am to 2pm

Junior Teams (U6-U12) - 3rd & 10th March Lightwood Park  10am to 2pm

Registration Fees  - the Club has set the 2007 fees which have increased due mainly to the new system and includes several changes in the way we meet our financial commitments.

  1. Past debts must be paid prior to 2007 registration.

  1. Registration Fees (in full) must accompany the Registration Form.

  1. The Committee may consider “extreme hardship cases” on an individual basis but generally will be very reluctant to extend credit to players (this action has been strongly advised by the governing body)
