The Lion's Share - June
Gormley Park Redevelopment
Those who have been to Gormley Park recently would have noticed the brand new light poles that have "grown" out of the far side of the ground. After a few months of discussions and negotiations the poles for the new lights are ready and will be up and running in the next few weeks. This will enable Gormley Park to become our major base for senior trainings and will benefit many of the junior, youth and women as well. Thanks to Aurora, Kingborough Council, Bruce Harper, Adam Coleman and Brain Dale for all their hard work to get this project near completion.

Texas Hold 'em Report
With the popularity of Poker rising around the world, the first ever KLUSC Poker Tournament was held at Lightwood Park on the FA Cup Night in May. Around 40 keen and eager participants attended and the night was a great success. With 6 tables operating at the start of the night, it was novices versus so called "experts" with many people not living up to their reputations! A final table of 6 people was eventually put together from the winners of every table and a long and drawn out battle ensued. With allegations of deck tampering and incapable dealers being flung around it was nice to finally see Brett "Junkyard Dog" Andrews defeat Adam "Five 10s" Clydesdale to claim the inaugural title. Keep your eyes peeled as there will be another tournament held in the very near future.
Working Bee - 15th July 2007 - Lightwood Park
On the 15th of July, there will be a working bee at the Lightwood Park Clubrooms to do a varied list of maintenance and beautification of the facilities that we all use. Jobs as varied as painting, pruning, cleaning gutters, vacuuming etc will be undertaken and all people who are keen to help out please turn up at 10am on the 15th. All support is appreciated and we need volunteers for any amount of time to help our club.
Did you know?
Stuart Morse, long time KLUSC youth player, currently playing in the Under 19 team has been invited to attend a Hammer Throwers Weekend Camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra. Stuart recently came second in the Under 20 National Championships and from this and his good recent form he is one of the 16 athletes to be chosen to attend. Out of the 16 invited to attend, Stuart is one of 4 Tasmanians and is looking forward to improving on his personal best throw. Good Luck Stu!

For all of our young cubs there will be a Junior Disco at Lightwood Park on the 7th July for all players, friends, brothers, sisters and relatives who are between the ages of under 6 and under 12 to come along and have a great time. Last year was a great success and we hope that we get all of our juniors (and parents if they want) to the event. Under 6 to Under 8 - 6:00pm until 7:30 pm. Under 9 to Under 12 - 7:45 until 9:30pm. Entry is by gold coin donation and snacks, drinks and lucky door prizes are all supplied free of charge! Parents who want to make a night of it can stay on to enjoy the cheap drinks at the bar and the great fun.
