KINGBOROUGH LIONS UNITED SOCCER CLUB
2009 JUNIOR
NEWLSETTER
| On
behalf of your Committee, may we extend a welcome to all new players
and parents, and to all those who are returning for another season of
the world game. The Committee hopes that with your help and support
we can develop KLUSC into an even stronger family based club catering
for all needs. We trust you and your family will support our social
activities during the year and that you share in your Clubrooms at Lightwood
Park as they are open every Saturday and a well stocked kiosk, at the
far end of the Clubrooms, opens about 9am. The Kiosk at Gormley Park
will also open each Saturday morning with all proceeds going directly
to Kingborough's '"Lion's Edge" player development programme. Senior
games are played at Lightwood Park most Saturday and Sunday afternoons
which permits junior players and families (at no cost) to stay on a
little after their game to support our senior players. Information
regarding these matches, your team match reports and social events is
regularly updated on our website: www.klusc.org.au. In
addition, junior information and social events will also be forwarded
to all coaches whose responsibility it will be to forward this information
to all junior players. We
hope your season will be rewarding both on and off the ground. REGISTRATION FEESThe Registration Fee
is $90.00 per player (Family discount available) and the Club
makes every effort to restrict fees to a minimum. Minimum
age: a player who turns 6 during the calendar year is eligible to
play. The fees are used to
provide for Club membership, players' medallions, ground rentals, players'
and coaches' insurance, playing strips, ground development levy, normal
training equipment and associated administrative expenses plus Central
Regional expenses including Carnival costs and Regional Development
Officers. PLEASE NOTE: Every player must complete a Registration Form and lodge it with the Registration Fee prior to commencing training with the Club, as unregistered players may not be covered by insurance. Registration Forms lodged without the appropriate fee will not be accepted.PLAYING SEASONTerm I - 2nd May until 23rd May (provisional) Term II - 20th June until 29th August (provisional) |
INTRODUCING SMALL-SIDED GAMESSmall-sided games (SSG)
are games with fewer players competing on a smaller-sized field. They
are fun games that encourage players to have more contact with the ball
because fewer players are playing in a smaller playing area. SSG have
a definite developmental impact on younger football players. SSG make the game a better experience for children. More touches on the ball, more opportunities to make decisions, more actual play. Players will be more active due to playing both attacking and defensive roles within a match and will understand the importance of team-mates and playing and working together.
From 2008, Football
Federation Australia and Member Federations, in conjunction with associations
and clubs will lead a staged implementation of SSG throughout Australia.
The implementation will start with some or all age groups, associations
and clubs in 2008 and will continue over several years to progress throughout
all age groups, associations and clubs in a staged approach. Full
implementation should be complete by 2011.
GALA DAYSTwo
"Gala Days" are proposed to be held on Saturday
4th and Sunday
18th April introducing SSG. For further
details, please refer to the circulated flyer. These events are
open to all children from Prep to Grade 6 and are there to promote
SSG, as well as providing a fun environment to play soccer and some
pre-season experience prior to team training sessions.

TRAINING VENUES & TIMESFollowing the finalisation
of teams, all coaches will contact players to advise training times
and venues. Coaches will outline training cancellation arrangements
at their first training session. Training will be at
either of the club's grounds at Lightwood Park at Kingston View Drive,
Kingston, and Gormley Park at Gormley Drive, Kingston or in some cases
at selected School ovals. The Club would appreciate
all players being ready to start the training session at the designated
time and being collected promptly following training. All players must wear
suitable clothing together with soccer boots and shinpads to each training
session. A warm change of clothing is also advisable. It is also recommended
that all players bring a drink bottle, even if it is for immediately
after the training session, as it is thirsty work!

GIRLS TEAM(S)
KLUSC makes every
effort to field all girl teams in all girl competitions when numbers
permit. Know of any interested
players?
CENTRAL REGION HOLIDAY CLINICS Clinics are usually
conducted during the school break between the first and second terms.
These are held at several locations. More information will be distributed
throughout the season when available. REGIONAL TEAMSPlayers are required
to play in their true age groups when representing the Central Region
at Under 9 to Under 12 levels. More information concerning the Regional
Trials, dates and venues will be available throughout the season from
the Junior Coordinator, your Team Coach or via the Central Region website:
www.central.soccertas.org.au. FIRST-AIDAny parents who have
first-aid training and will usually attend matches are asked to make
this known to your child's Coach to be able to assist when necessary. CODES OF CONDUCTPlease read the Handbooks
when issued, in particular the sections relating to the various Codes
of Conduct and please take the time to explain to our younger Socceroos.
These codes are also accessible through our website at www.klusc.org.au in the administration section in the small-sided
games handbook (page 21).
COACHING ACCREDITATIONAll Coaches who do
not hold any accreditation are required to attend a suitable accreditation
course. A Grassroots Coaching
Certificate is deemed compulsory for any person undertaking
junior coaching and has not attended a course previously. Details of future
courses will be released in the near future. JUNIOR SUB- COMMITTEEThe Club considers it
has become necessary to appoint a sub-committee to assist with the social
side for the junior arm of the Club. The only commitment
we are asking for is for volunteers to assist with organising a few
functions for the season. For any enquiries, please contact the Junior Coordinator for this season, Fiona Harms telephone: 0419 441817 or email: junior@klusc.org.au |
