Under 11 Black Match Report
Saturday, April 12, 2008 v KLUSC U11 Blue @ Lightwood Park

Match report :

The team played a 3-3-2 formation following on from the success we had with the structure during the last few games last season. We had some personnel changes this year and the new players were introduced into the role of forwards and backs.

At the start of the 1st half the midfield of Joseph, William, Michael and Robert worked together to set up many attacking raids towards the Blue team's goal, Joseph (central midfield) was used in a more attacking role and assisted Matthew and Bobby (forwards) which created many opportunities around the Blue's goal circle. The Blue team's defence played strong until cracks appeared and Matthew and Bobby found space wide and scored 2 goals each. The back line of Joshua (centre back), Harrison, Jayden and Kris made many good tackles where the ball was quickly turned over. Harrison's player marking was excellent giving the Blues forward no space to attack at our goal. Our keeper Jordan was called on to make a terrific save close to the near post, Jordan made sure that the ball did not sneak over the line. Jordan's ball clearing kicks were excellent today. Joseph was rewarded with a goal close to half time after some very good movement of the ball down the ground in attack, it was pleasing to see Bobby waiting in the goal circle if needed but Joseph drove the ball through from outside the circle. The team's use of set pieces to score goals continues to grow, Joshua and Bobby combining at an awarded free kick near the goal circle, the shot clearing the defensive wall and just shaving over the goal bar.

In the 2nd half our backline continued to dominate their opponents. Joshua, Jayden, Harrison and Michael intercepted and tackled smartly, cleared the ball back towards our attacking midfielders and forwards. William had a terrific 2nd half playing as a midfielder running the line as a true wing half should and providing some good cross balls to our forwards. Robert, William and Joseph dominated the midfield space, holding the ball when received from our backline and passing through to our forwards. Bobby creative as usually, scored 3 goals in the 2nd half. Our attack at the Blue's goal was relentless, the team placed the Blue team's defence under enormous pressure and did not release that hold. Joseph and William scored goals, William's coming from a corner. The match ended with KLUSC Black 10 KLUSC Blue 0.
