Under 11 Black Match Report
Saturday, July 12, 2008 v Tilford Zebras @ Lightwood Park

Match report :

This week we were playing the U10 TILFORD ZEBRAS team at our home ground Lightwood Park.

After our previous weeks good team effort the instructions this week were to continue to use the width of the pitch and to create enough depth to attack the ZEBRAS goal. From the start the under-sized ZEBRAS team displayed very good ball control skills and liked to knock the ball around to their teammates. Our defence of Harrison, Robert, Jordan, Kris and Joshua marked their opponents well and soaked up a load of pressure early in the game. Jayden (goalkeeper 1st half) pulled off some fine saves during a period where the ZEBRAS dominated in attack on our goal. Our forwards were creating good depth of field to work into and Joshua put a nice ball through to Bobby who ran around his marker and put a goal on the scoreboard for KLUSC. Halftime saw KLUSC 1 goal up on their opponents.

After the break the ZEBRAS came out attacking and scored a long-range goal. The ZEBRAS player chanced his luck and seeing our goalkeeper off his line lobbed a ball over the head and outstretched hands into the goal. Both teams continued to attack each other's goal. Joseph came close to scoring late in the match, his shot missing to the left of the goal post. ZEBRAS put a 2nd goal on the scoreboard after the ball deflected off the leg of one of our defence players. This caught our keeper going the wrong way after initially having the original shot on goal covered. KLUSC continued to apply pressure on the ZEBRAS' goal during the last 5-10 minute period of the match, numerous corners were taken but unfortunately no goals were scored. ZEBRAS defended well and managed to hold out the strong finishing KLUSC team.
