Under 11 Black Match Report
Saturday, May 17, 2008 v Kingborough Lions Blue @ Lightwood Park

Match report :

This was the 2nd time this season the Black team has played their Tuesday training partners, the blue team. After a pre-match talk with the managers/coaches and warm up the game got underway.

Matthew, Michael,Bobby,Joseph and Nathan made up our forward structure in the 1st half. It didn't take long before Joseph and Bobby started to dominate their opponents and the Blue team's defence.

The boys combined with Matthew and Nathan to put together some pleasing passing play, which resulted in
2 goals to the Black team.
The boys worked hard on maintaining ball possession, use of space and their one - two touch play. Joshua and Harrison controlled the backline with the support of Jayden, Jordan and Robert.

Clear instructions to defend to the sidelines were followed and the Blue team found it hard to have any opportunities on goal. William did a fine job in goals with only a couple of touches for the half. Constant pressure at the Blue team's defence resulted in 2 more goals to Joseph and Bobby before the break.

The 2nd half had Michael, Bobby, Matthew, Joseph and William in our forward structure. William made a nice run down his flank working the ball towards goal and then cut the ball back across goal to Bobby waiting patiently to score, unfortunately our finishing let us down on this occasion but it was very good team play. Joseph constantly ran the ball towards the Blue team's defensive line, which created passing space for Matthew, Bobby and Michael to run into and receive the ball.

These opportunities were taken and Bobby, Matthew and Joseph scoring goals. The backline in defence was holding the Blue team well until Gus (Blue team) lost his marker and ran down his right flank and crossed a ball into the danger area, where Jacob (nice one touch) scored a goal for the Blue team. Bobby dangerous as always around the goal circle scored two more goals before the fulltime whistle was blown.

Much improved display of the team's passing skills today, together with player positioning and use of space. Pleasing to see the team's development of their decision making processes and always looking around to get other teammates into the play. Goals scored were well crafted during the game that was dominated by the team.

The match ended KLUSC Black 9 KLUSC Blue 1.
