Under 11 Black Match Report
Saturday, June 21, 2008 v PS Cyclones White @ Lightwood Park
Match report :
This week we were playing the PRINCES STREET Cyclones team at our home ground. Our opponent had been promoted from the U10 competition in Term 1 to play in the U11 competition this Term.
We played with a 3 - 4 formation with a sweeper playing behind the backline of 3. Nathan, Bobby, Joseph, Michael, Matthew and William were rotated through the forward line for the 1st half. In our defence structure were Harrison, Robert, Jordan and Joshua taking up the important sweepers role for the game. Jayden took up the role of goalkeeper for the game.
The 1st half saw the ball going down to one end of the ground and then being repelled straight back to the other end. The PC Cyclones team liked to knock the ball around and their players were always looking to involve other teammates in their attack play. KLUSC used the width of the ground to mount their attacks into the PC Cyclones half. Joseph worked hard in the middle to try to mount attacks down the spine of the ground.
Michael ran the ball down his right wing and evaded some of the PC Cyclones defenders. Mike worked the ball towards the PC Cyclones goal, he then let rip with a shot at goal however the ball was held by the goalkeeper, but unfortunately the goalkeeper used the goal post to gain grip of the ball and it moved behind the post and a goal was awarded to KLUSC.
In the 2nd half we had Michael, Bobby, Matthew, William and Joseph again rotating through the forward line. In our defensive structure we had Harrison, Robert, Jordan, Matthew, Nathan and Joshua rotating in the positions. Both of the teams started to move the ball around in attack with confidence, which opened the game up and goals started going in. Bobby scored two goals after some skillful footwork in close at goal.
PC Cyclones continued to mount attack at our goal and after some sloppy defensive work PC Cyclones scored 2 late goals.
The match ended KLUSC Black 3 PC Cyclones 2. Top Effort our guys !!!
