Under 12 Blue Match Report
Saturday, May 10, 2008 v West Hobart Wolves @ Gormley Park
Match report :
The game against West Hobart started at a fantastic pace and almost straight away our goal came under pressure.
The defence and goalkeeper certainly kept us in the game with a number of fine saves, timely tackles and ball being cleared off the line. Late in the first half we started to get back into the game and started putting to pressure on their goal and had a couple of chances to score.
However within the shadows of half time we concede a well-taken goal.
The second half was far more even with both teams have equal chances. West Hobart scored a second but almost straight away we scored.
After that we had a number of chances to equalising but just couldn't finish it off. Once again with the game end in sight, West Hobart added a third.
I was very proud of the way the boys fought the game out and the fact they never gave up. The defence held up well against a skilful opponent and both goalkeepers kept us in the match with a string of fine saves. In the end the game was a fine example of free flowing soccer and just how far these boys have developed as a team
Jeremy had a fantastic game in goal in the first half and one of his saves was just breathe taking! Adam had his usual solid game in defence and his tackling was a highlight. Haydn had a wonderful game in defence that were highlighted by his two clearances off the line and important tackles.
Simon was another on of our defender who was a rock in defence. I lost count of the number of important clearances and just being the right person at the right place. Dylan had a good game in the midfield in the first half, giving us important runs and help to link up with our strikers. His efforts in goals were wonderful and he pulled off a number great saves.
Tom and James G never gave up and never stopped trying on their wings. Tim just seemed to be everywhere, whether in attack or defence. His footwork and ball control we were fantastic. James M just kept running all game and he was a constant threat with his sheer strength, turn of pace and well-timed runs. He had a couple of fine efforts on goals, one of which resulted in our goal.
Patrick was another of our striker who jus kept running at their defence and putting himself into good scoring position. . He too was very unlucky not to add his name to the score sheet. Callum was another who worked non-stopped in midfield to help start our attacking movement and also to break up West Hobart attacking plays.
Simeon impressed with his unbelievable pace and his sure ball control. Josef was another member of our defensive unit who was there to help stem the attacking movement of West Hobart.
