Saturday, July 12, 2008 v Lenah Valley @ Gormley Park

Match report :

Saturday 12th July's game against Lenah Valley was another example of us playing well but failing to take our chances. From the very start of the game Kingborough were in attack and pressuring Lenah Valley's goal. The boys had good sets of passes going forward and were using the full width of the pitch. Within the final minutes of the first half and much against the run of play we conceded a well-worked Lenah Valley goal. The early part of the second half saw us under some pressure but our defence held firm and closed down a number of attacking movements. After that we again put Lenah Valley under pressure and had a couple of near misses. Once again we were caught on the counter attack and allowed them to score their second. The two nil score line didn't truly reflect how much of the play we had and how well we played.

Jeremy had a fine first half in attack and had a number of good chances on goal. Put into goals in the second half he kept us in the game with a number of fine saves. Sam played the first half in goals and displayed his great goalkeeping skills. In the second half Sam played in defence and help stop a number of their attacks. As well he was able to run with the ball and turn defence into attack. Adam played his best game I have seen him play for Kingborough. A number of times he was the last line of defence and he was able to break them down with a good tackle or putting pressure on them. Simon enjoyed his freedom on the wing and he was constantly running at the defender. Simeon just simply ran himself into the ground trying to support his teammates and never stopped trying. Tom played an effective game as our sweeper and he also had a couple of good chances to score. He properly came the closet to scoring for us. Tim was our engine room in midfield and kept pumping the ball forward either by running at defenders or crossing the ball into the box. Patrick played well in attack and it is nice to see him getting into good positions within the box. He was another who had a couple of chance to score. Callum slotted into the centre of defence and help marshal the defence well. He was there when required to break down attacking movements. It was great to have James G back into the team after missing the last two games and he slotted well back into defence. It was nice to have his cool head and well timed tackles. Alex was in our midfield and he help deliver a number of fine crosses and attacking balls. Josef played on the wing and help us keep the pressure on Lenah Valley with balls into the box. He also popped up in attack and was another who had a good chance. Dylan had a solid game and he is another one of our quiet achievers. He certainly is a very effect member of our team and gives his all!
