Under 12 Blue Match Report
Saturday, May 17, 2008 v University @ Olinda Grove

Match report :

The match against University certainly had its ups and downs for our team.

From the start of the game we were immediately under pressure and all too soon we were 2 nil down, after only four minutes.

At this stage it would have been very easy for the boys to let their heads drop and allow the score to just blow out!

This game really demonstrated to everyone the spirit of the team and their willingness to work for each other. Our defence tighten up and shut down a lot of their attacks and the team as a whole started to work their way back into the match.

University did manage a third but we definitely had our chances as well.

The second half saw the boys boost their effort again and really took the game to University. After a number of offensive maneuvers, the team managed to break down their defence and score a well-deserved goal. The whole team gave their all and up till the end they were still having a crack! Much against the flow of the game University added a fourth.

As a coach I could not of asked more from the team and their endeavors impressed everyone present. James M had a very busy period in goal for the first half. Thrown into attack he was there at the right time to slot home our goal.

Jeremy in the first half dropped back into defence and certainly was a colossal element there. The second half he took over the goalkeeping duties and he took control of his goal area. He made a number of fine saves, which were followed by a massive kick forward.

Simeon also played a bit deeper and he made a number of timely tackles and then was able to turn defence into attack. Sam just kept taking on University with searching runs and putting great pressure on their goals. Haydn was in the centre of our defence and I lost count the number of times he was our last line of our defence.

Tim great attacking movement and his ball control were another highlight. He was willing to run at the University's defence and was always pushing the ball forward. Simon was another member of our steadfast defence who held up well against their determine attacks. However once the tide had turned he was there to take the attack to University by running the ball forward.

Patrick had a couple of chances to add to our goals and was always running on to our long passes. James G whether on the wing or in defence gave his all to the team and he was another who helped halt a number of attacks. Adam just kept putting pressure on the attacking players and he cleared the ball over the line a number of times. Alex in our midfield really got us going, whether with his runs or passes.

Dylan played most of the game in the midfield and help turn the tide and put pressure on University. Callum and Tom spent most of the game on the wing and help break down the flow of crosses that were coming from their wingers.
