Saturday, July 19, 2008 v Margate @ Margate

Match report :

Saturday's game against Margate was a very free flowing game that was played at a very hectic pace. The first 15 minutes of the game saw us under pressure and our defenceheld up well and kept us in the game. A momentary lapse of concentration allow Margate to slot home a goal but that seem to bring us into the game. We started to attack their defensive area and we had a number of chances to score. With only a minute to go we managed to score a well a spectacular goal. The first ten minutes of the second half we properly played the best football of the year and totally dominated our opponents. We took a 2 - 1 score line after a good build up and a well-taken goal. After the goal we kept going forward trying to add to our goals. However once again two defensive lapses allowed Margate to draw level and then go 3-2 up. The game then seem to even out and that was followed by well-taken Margate corner which allowed them to draw 4 - 2. The last 5 minutes saw us attacking their goal and it was no real surprise when we pulled back through an own goal, to make it 4-3. The remainder of the game saw us trying to score an equaliser and we had a few chance but just failed to take them. I was really proud the way the boys played and the fact we never gave up.

Dylan played the first half in goals and his great saves managed to keep us in the game. Adam had another great game being rock solid in defence and he also showed us his skills with running with the ball. Simon played the first half in defence and was our cool head in defence. Thrown into attack in the second, he showed great skills moving the ball forward. Tom was our sweeper and he gave great support to our attacker and defenders. Jeremy played in attack in the first half and enjoyed the freedom to run at their defenders. In goal in the second half he was under great pressure but his saves kept us in the game. James G played a solid game especially in the second half where he slotted into our defence. He help keep pressure on their attackers and break down their attacks . Alex used his great pace and ball control to take on defenders and put pressure on their goal. Simone scored two well taken the goal with the first being scored while he was on the ground. Patrick showed us his ability to set up scoring chances for other, being involved with both goals. Josef played on the wing in the first half and he help to give width and depth to some of our attack. In the centre of defence in the second half he came under great pressure but was able to make some important tackles. Callum thrown into defence he displayed his great defensive skills and help to break down a number of Margate's attacking movements. Tim was our engine room in the midfield and started a lot of our attacking movements. Sam spent the whole game running at Margate's defence and constantly putting the ball into attacking positions.
