Saturday, June 21, 2008 v Huon Valley @ Huonville

Match report :

It was great to be back playing soccer after the break and the game against Huon Valley,certainly was a very entertaining one. The boys managed to control most of the match and this effort and skill resulted in four well crafted goals.It was great to see the improvement of the whole group and it was nice to see that there was no rustiness in their play. It was agreat team effort, and everyone played heir roles very well.

Our defence gave Huon Valley very few chances and also started a number of our attacking movements. They were also able to keep Huon Valley scoreless. The midfield kept a constant flow of balls, running through to our attackers and telling crosses. To top that off they were also able to score a couple of our goals. Our strikers were a constant threat to Huon Valley's defence and made a number of well-timed runs.

Dylan had a great game in goals and one of his saves in the second half was fantastic. It certainly showed great reflexes and positioning. Adam enjoyed his new role on the wing and kept the pressure on Huon Valleys midfield. Back to his usual role in defence in the second half he was able to break down a number of attack. Haydn is our cool head in defence and just seems to be the right place at the right time.Simon played in our midfield in the first half and was constantly running at the Huon Valley defence. In defence he thwarted their attacking runs and then was able to change defence into attack.

Alex showed us his great ball skills and produced a number of runs and crosses that put great pressure on our opponents. He has impressed everyone with his great turn of pace. Simeoncontrolled the midfield and helped maintain pressure on their defence and as well he was able to score a goal. Patrick had a number of good efforts at goal and helped to set up one of our goals.

Jeremy had a great game on the wing and was a constant threat. He has great ability to run with the ball and take on defenders. It was great to see him slot home a well-crafted goal. Tim helped start or was a link up player in a number of our attacking movements. He plays an important part in our midfield and he too was able to add his name to the score sheet. Sam is another willing to take on defenders and to set up his teammates who were in better position.

Tom put pressure on his opponents and was always helping to move the ball forward. Josef played the first half in defence and he made a series of important tackles. In the second half he was thrown into the midfield and helped support both our strikers and our defenders. James M had a great game in attack and the goal he scored was a highlight of the game. Not only for the way he scored with a volley but also the fantastic lead up work. Callum was another player who impressed me with his willingness to run with the ball and take on defenders.
