Under 12 Blue Match Report
Saturday, August 02, 2008 v Waimea Heights @ Gormley Park
Match report :
Saturday 2nd August game against Waimea Heights was a very competitive game and the match was a lot close than the score suggested. Within the first ninety seconds of the game we scored our first goal. Our attacking movements were very fluent and we were putting constant pressure on their defence. At the same time our defence held up any of their attacking movements. Fifteen minutes into the game we add a second and seemed to be totally in control. However after that Waimea Heights fought their way back in the game and broke down our defence and scored a well-worked goal. The score of 2 - 1 showed just how close the game had become and how closely the game was being fought. The second started off with both teams pressuring each other defences and I was very proud of how our defence stood firm. After ten minutes of even play our attacking play came to the fore and we slotted home another three goals, which unfortunately included an own goal. Waimea Heights then scored a fantastic individual goal, which bought applause from both teams supports. Kingborough then add a sixth goal but at games end the team knew they were involved in a very competitive game.
Sam played the first half in a goal and preformed his duties very well. In the second half he was put into attack and was a constant threat to their goal and he kept pumping the ball into the box. It was no real surprise to see he score two quality individual goals. Jeremy was very important in our attacks, pressuring their defence and giving important passes to teammates. Jeremy also managed to score with a very powerful shot on a very tight angle. Simon had a fantastic first half with his runs and attacking play. Also thru his attacking play he was able to slot two great goals. In the second half he dropped back into defence and help stem a number of attacking movements. Alex speed and ball control was often the starting point from which our attacking play, started. Patrick played up forward in the first half and helped keep pressure on their defence. Dropping back into defence he help keep Waimea Heights at bay. Adam as a player has certainly come forward in leaps and bounds. He has start passing and using the ball very well. Simeon again just seemed to be everywhere and he produced a number of important crosses. Haydn was given the strikers role in the first half and was constantly running at their defenders. Put back into defence he just managed to be in the right place at the right time. Dylan spent the first half on the wing and he help link up with a number of our attacks. Put into goal in the second he help keep out most of their attacks. James G as an important member of our defensive unit and made a number of important tackles. Put on the wing in the second he helped move the ball forward to our advantage. Josef played in the centre of our defence in the first half and his cool head was very important at time. Given more freedom in the second he helped keep the flow of balls through to our attackers. Tim was involved in a lot of our attacking movements and he has become an important member of our team.
