Under 12 Blue Match Report
Saturday, July 05, 2008 v St Aloysius Originals @ Gormley Park

Match report :

Saturday 5th July game against St Aloysius was played on a very white and cold Gormley Park. From the whistle the team start where they left off with and totally dominated the opposition for the first fifteen minutes. The ball was almost camped up in their last third of the pitch but Kingborough simply couldn't score! The conditions were very slippery and the players found it very hard to keep their footing. Very much against the run of play, a quickly take free kick left our goalkeeper expose and St Aloysius slotted home a good goal. That seem to make the players loose concentration and all too soon we found ourselves three nil down after have far the better of the first half. The second half stated off fairly even with both sides having their chances. We then again took control of the game and started to attack their goals. The team had one shot that just flew over the bar. Kingborough were then award a free kick on the edge of box and we were able to get a goal. A powerful shot by James M was diverted into the goal by Patrick, a very well taken goal. From then to the final whistle saw he Lions in attack and pressuring St Aloysius. All too soon we had a second goal and then we were back trying to get the equaliser. After a foul in the box Kingborough was award a spot kick, which was well, saved by their goalkeeper. The whistle bought to an end a very competitive and engrossing game. I was very proud with the way the boy fought out the game and never stopped trying. It would have been very easy for the boy to not put in the effort after being three nil down but they fought the game out until final whistle. The 3 - 2 score line really showed how close the two teams were.

Dylan had a busy time in goals in the first half having unmarked St Aloysuis' players coming at him. The second half he fitted in on the wing and helped keep the ball moving forward. Tom was another defender who was there with important tackles to keep us in the game. Simon had a great game in defence and thwart a number of their attack and then running with the ball at their defenders. Josef enjoyed his new role on the wing and he help keep the pressure on our opponents. Jeremy had a fine first half on the wing and he was a constant threat. The second half he took over the goal-keeping role he made a number of fine saves. Simeon at times just seemed to be everywhere whether in defence, midfield or up forward. He just never stopped giving his all! Alex was always there bringing the ball forward and supplying crosses into the box. James M never stopped running and taking on St Aloysius players. He constantly was there treating to their goal. Sam played in the midfield and supplied a number of fine balls for our strikers to run on to. Patrick finely broke his duck with a goal, which he deflected in from a powerful James M shot. Callum was our cold head in defence whether taking control of the ball or just clearing it over the line. Tim made a number of skilful runs into the box and just kept the pressure on. He was also able to slot home a well-worked goal as well as having another near miss! Haydn marshalled our defence very well and in the second half our defence gave St Aloysius very few chances.
