Under 9 Girls Gold Match Report
Saturday, June 28, 2008 v West Hobart Black @
Match report :
Another great game against the West Hobart Black team, with all players and spectators left breathless by the end of the 40mins of play.
It was a pleasure for all to see the girls having such an exciting and energetic game, and one in which some mature football was played.
There were excellent efforts from all of the girls. Our two goal-keepers, Lily and Isabelle, both did well in goals however in actual fact did not have too much to do; the West Hobart girls were trying their hardest however it seemed our defence was always up to the task, bravely taking on girls sometimes several sizes bigger than themselves.
Charlotte showed a lot of fire in her tackling and running forward with the ball, whilst Laura did more attacking than usual, getting into some good positions close to the goal.
Annie made many good runs with the ball, showing good control and shooting for goal, whilst Ashleigh continued to show her ability to tackle and to turn defence into attack.
Grace also showed some good control, and moved the ball forward to the attacking areas. Ariane did some good defensive work, stopping several attacks and passing forwards.
Ruby was very strong in the middle of the park and showed good control of the ball, whilst Isabelle was very determined and made several good runs with the ball in the first half.
Josie always tried to put herself into good positions, and her speed ensured that her defensive play was invaluable.
Lily, after playing in goals in the first half, made some very good attacking moves and had several good shots on goal.
So, a very pleasing game from the coach's perspective. The goals we scored were a result of the way the game was played - control, space and enthusiasm.
Fantastic Games Girls !!!
