Under 9 Girls Gold Match Report
Saturday, August 02, 2008 v PS Galaxy @ Lightwood Park
Match report :
What a game! The players from both teams put on a spirited and fast-paced display of soccer that left the spectators gasping for breath by the end of play.
All of the girls played very well, carrying on from the last few weeks where we have seen continual improvement. Players were controlling the ball, looking for the best options (dribbling, passing or shooting at goals), and helping out in defence when required.
Goalies for the day were Isabelle and Gwendolyn, and both girls did well in the position, stopping shots from the Galaxy and sending the ball downfield.
In the outfield, there was real passion in the play, and all of the girls did very well. The highlights mostly focussed around the defensive efforts and the attacking dribbling towards the Galaxy's goal. One exciting moment towards the end saw a goal-bound shot ricochet back of the posts when most of the spectators had thought a goal was certain ... heart-stopping stuff!
So well done girls, on a very good performance. And we look forward to Laura returning for the next game.
