Match report :

It was a big game for us this week but the result didn't end up going our way. The highlight of the day was Hamish Cunningham's break dancing after being taken down from behind in the reserves game then the trainer (Brett Andrews) strolled onto the field with the magic water which seemed to do the trick.

The line up was, Bear in goals, chel and rosco at fullback, Charlie and marco at centre back, goodsey, palmer and Kerr in the middle. Bevo was playing as a wide attacking midfielder and Greg and bremner were playing up front.

Olympic hit the front pretty early on when they won a corner. Charlie headed the ball away from the near post to the top of the 18 yard box where Bulis took a touch around a defender and volleyed into the top right hand corner and there was nothing the Bear could do about it.

Midway through the second half the best chance for us fell to chel who ran about 30 metres to take a quick free kick while Olympic players argued with the referee. It was only Nester who realised at the last second and dived low to his left to keep out the side footer from just outside the penalty box.

Late in the first half we started playing the way we wanted to play. Not many clear chances were created in the first half however by either team. Olympic looked dangerous when we streamed forward only to give it up and they were able to run at our defence but marco and Charlie did well to tame them

Early in the second half Olympic struck again. It was a cross from the left which was half cleared at the near post. It fell to Backhaus on the volley and he put it away from the edge of the box. Two very good finishes by Olympic so far.

The second goal seemed to spark us into action and we took a few risks and started pushing forward and started getting shots on goal and crosses into the box.

Bevo was putting in some great corners again and it's where we looked most dangerous. First of all Olympic cleared to the top of the box straight to palmer who found room for a volley which was brilliantly saved by Nester.

Another corner soon followed and Greg found himself on the end of it. I bet he wasn't thinking his first goal for the season would come off his head But it did after it took a slight deflection to guide it into the right hand corner.

At 2-1 we looked better and continued to attack. We earned another corner and it was Charlie who got on the end of it at the far post only to see it well saved by Nester again who tipped it over the bar.

We continued to attack and in the end it was our downfall late on as Olympic got in behind us on our right hand side twice in 10 minutes and Bulis finished off the moves on both occasions.

Late on we got in behind Olympic on the left hand side but either no one was on the end of the crosses or they were off the mark. Despite us having more shots, crosses and corners, the game ended Olympic 4 Kingborough 1. Hopefully we can work on getting in better positions to score goals from and improve the areas and quality of crosses in order to score more goals.

We play Clarence at lightwood park this Saturday at 2.30 and can hopefully get our first win for the season and start moving up the ladder.
