Match report :

We met again an Olympic team that we were lucky to draw against last time, this time at a muddy lightwood. We went into the game with a week off training and with photos running late, so the preparation was not ideal. We started off well and were holding the Olympic boys and putting them under pressure with a few shots flying into the side netting. Olympic scored the opener against the run of play with a nasty deflection beating everybody. The Lions kept fighting though and got an equaliser off Stu Morse who scored from one of a number of corners that were causing havoc for the Olympic keeper. Just before the half time whistle Tommy K scored his first goal for the season with a good dribble and dink to one side and a low shot that squirmed under the keeper, to cross the line...just (or did Benfes get the final touch?)

At half time we talked about the excellent work rate of everybody and especailly Benfes who was playing his first game and worked harder than everybody. We wanted to go out and kill off the game, however the Olympic boys came at us and threw everything at us, testing our determination. We did kill of the game with Chris Gio finding Steve Hadlow on the wing and the big actor cut in and slotted the ball past the advancing keeper and off the post to make it 3-1. Olympic finally got a goal that they had been searching for with the last kick of the game to let us win 3-2. A great game and a deserved victory. Well done everybody.
