Match report :
Welcome to summer! Snow on the mountain, 10 degrees, and showers sweeping in from the hills.
Watching the team warm up was warming for the soul, though, seeing the enthusiasm after two long months of hard (but fun work).
This would be the first time trying out the new style defence on a full field, and a couple of missing players left us looking for a striker.
We lined up 4-1-4-1, with Madi in the hole, and Nat with a licence to roam from left back. Within a few minutes, Robyn was brought down (or fell over) on the edge of the box - "Watch this", said Martin, and Eleanor obliged by putting the free kick away. Beth floated one in a few minutes later, and we were two up early.
Then Metro started to get their act together, and lack of defensive support in the midfield meant we got opened up down the middle and the striker coolly scored, despite Monika's best efforts.
Another one followed after a scramble, and we went to the break 2-2.
The second half was a good arm wrestle, with chances at both ends, Madi's left foot volley being a highlight. Then the game was won with Andrea winning the ball, playing through Madi to Eleanor, who turned and split the defence with a lovely pass to put Imogen away, who finished clinically.
All played really well, with Andrea and Nat being standouts.
