Match report :
The teams first home game at Lightwood and the weather was perfect and the pitch a picture this early in the season, we knew we were in for a tough match as Clarence had made a good start to the roster, the boys hit the ground running and but for some great keeping from the opposition goalie could have been two up in ten minutes with jack and Isaac having good chances on goal, as the game settled down Clarence got their passing game working well and our two centre backs Ryan and Brodie had their hands full for the second week running, we persisted with trying to play our way out of defence and this is starting to work for us as the teamwork starts to kick in.
An inspired subsitution by yours truly saw our "pocket rocket" Angus score with his first touch just before the break but with less than thirty seconds left in the first half Clarence were equal after some indecision in the box, so it was game on in the second half.
A real arm wrestle in the midfeild unfolded and we had spoke at half time about the need to stop Clarence having time on the ball in the middle of the park, Nicco Lloyd Liam and Isaac really forced them into rushing their passes and I think we were on top for most of the second half Josh N was tireless in front of the back four and allowed no easy balls to put them into attack.
A great pass out of defence from Jerome saw Jack around his man to score a cracking goal in the top far corner, and pleasing to see Angus was there to nod it in if it was not on target.
A great game from the entire squad and having played two of the top three teams they are ready for the coming games.
A special mention about our keeper Tom who was outstanding on the day with a couple of fantastic saves and great distribution when in possession.
Well done all.
