Well what can be said about the events. We started the social calendar with a Wine and Cheese Tasting Night in March. The night was well supported. The highlight came when someone's son phoned and embarrassed her. This incident led us to call for all mobile phones to be switched off when others are talking.
April saw our Fancy Dress Night with K.L.U.S.C. as the theme. Imaginations went wild and we saw a variety of costumes. Best dressed went to a very brave Tanya Hughes while Joel Best received a special award for combining our theme letters and dressing as Kingborough Lions Under-age Sub-Contractor.
The club was in full voice in May when Karaoke came to Lightwood. There were plenty of people but no one was brave enough to go it alone.
Thinking caps were on in June with the very popular Quiz Night. After losing the host early, Warren Iles stepped up and took the usual questioning of all answers - all in a bit of fun.
The Mystery Bus Tour in July was perhaps the most talked about. A tour of the channel pubs and a race that produced sore heads? Perhaps Wellsy would like to tell us more!
Flares and loud shirts weren't a thing of the past when September's Seventies Night came around. A great night was had by all especially the reserves who won the league that day. Chook and Brian leading the way, Dom's clothes never looked so good!
All in all the functions held this year were great nights. Better nights may have been had with more members in attendance.
Thanks to the Social Committee of Ruth Harper, Joe Glasovac, Tony New and Jeff Ellis. A special thanks to Mark & Carol Ellis for preparing counter meals for the social events. Ruth and I would like to thank our support system, Warren and Scott, without their help and support we may have lost our marbles. Last but not least, thank you to those who made the social events a success by showing up and getting into the spirit of the nights.
