Season's report
The 2001 season started with the tough task of grading the lads into teams. Our side consisted of half the under 12 Blacks and under 12 Blues from last year with the inclusion of Tehan Coad and Daniel Latham as our keeper.
Our first game of the season was against the much-talked about Hutchins lineup, which had been boosted during the off season by some clever recruiting, would we loose 5-0 or 6-0 was the question. A creditable 1-1 draw and the self-confidence for the season was born.
From here the season was a roller-coaster with some outstanding performances to losing to the bottom team. With holidays and cancellations the season was as disjointed as our performances.
Our captain Mark Iseli had a consistent season in the mid field, occasionally getting forward to score some timely goals. The defence started in goals with our keeper, "cool hand" Daniel Latham, whose performances were solid when he didn't get stuck in the mud of the goalmouth. In front of Daniel was Jhy Denholm and Lee Bailey sharing the sweeper and defensive roles, both these guys had good seasons and improved throughout the year. The rest of the back line consisted of Jared Shrank and Tehan Coad, our most tenacious performer. Thomas Bevan David Mathews and Jordan Alexander all had a good year in the mid field with David having a great last half of the season and becoming one of our more reliable performers. Our forwards Shaun Andrews, Jack Philp, Michael Giomataris, and Ben Hilliard also displayed moments of great heroics to missing goals from straight in front, don't worry guys it happens every Monday night on Premier League. Also thanks to Phillip Giomataris who filled in most weeks and to Jared Moran who played the last couple of games and showed great promise.
Thanks to Phil Andrews for coaching the team and never missing a training session which couldn't be said for his manager, also we appreciated Peter Philp's work as our web scribe and to all the parents for their ongoing support throughout the season.
