Season's report
This years team initially showed much promise and in fact our opening game against Sorell did seem to indicate this, however as the season progressed we were to be denied victories despite all the attempts by the team. The greatest difficulty was to get the team shipshape and organized so there was some routine and discipline in their game.
Despite our early start to the season and the high attendance at these early sessions much more needed to be done. We had high expectations at first but these were quickly dispelled under the might of teams such as Metro and St.Virgils who were the strength teams in our division.
Newcomers to the side did their best to adapt but it was hard when the squad was so often under the hammer. Everybody gave their best as individuals but the efforts to combine all the energies were seldom present, communication being their biggest downfall. As the season progressed it became apparent that it would become a write off and when the bad weather kicked in there was no chance to make some good out of our bad run.
There was some dismay over the cancellations of several games during the roster, these were namely against teams of our caliber that could have boosted our confidence significantly.
Though it may appear to be slightly depressing and with injuries further exacerbating our plight, it was wonderful to see them bounce back in their very last game where they displayed all the confidence and skills that one could expect. There were numerous scoring opportunities during both halves, they dominated possession and a win should have been the final outcome. This was not the case but it was good to see them once again walk off the field high in spirit, something I thought had departed from the side.
Blues you as always played to your best and I your never cease to amaze me and your loyal fans (parents) let's not agonize but look forward to a fresh start. I wish you and your families all the very best and may see you again in 2002
