Season's report

With the introduction of the Under 23 competition and the associated loss of many talented players, the U18 side were always going to struggle throughout the year. Poor pre-season preparation, the early loss of regular goal keeper Nick Bryan due to a spleen injury, and inability to train consistently also contributed to our poor season, which saw a number of heavy losses and few victories.

However, as with any season there were a number of highlights. These included the much anticipated return from semi-retirement of James New, the late season goal keeping efforts of Thai import Aon Poolprem, and the continued improvement of all players particularly the likes of Ben Bowes, Ashley Norris, Ben Appleby, Tom Mclean and Simon Dwyer.

Despite an indifferent season, players battled bravely and continued to train hard, culminating in some strong end of season performances against the likes of New Town Eagles and Metro. With all players still eligible to play in this division next year, I am sure that with a greater fitness base and improved team organisation results will follow.

Finally I would like to thank each and every player for their commitment and patience, and to all parents who provided support throughout the year.
