![]() Back (L to R): Sarah Walker (coach), John Walker, Clive Reekie, Robert Crawford, Alex Courtney Front (L to R): Jack McGrath, Sean Brealy, Joe McGrath Absent: Jay Baley Season's report My first year as coach was very enjoyable. The team's behaviour was normally 100%, apart from the occasional mud fight during training. The team's performance improved in every game we played. The early starts were the hardest part, followed by the curse of the unknown grounds, which seemed to strike towards the end of the season. Thankyou to all the coaches that allowed us to start the game ten minutes late! The support of the parents was much appreciated, as was the help at training from friends, Simon and Monique. Overall the year was a great experience with many surprises, including a broken leg. I look forward to seeing everyone in the new season. Jay Bailey - Jay, a very talented player who enjoys being up front and kicking goals. He is a good runner and this is an asset to the team. One of my most memorable moments of Jay was when he kicked a magnificent goal, which resulted in a team win. Good job Jay. Sean Brealy - Sean is a most enthusiastic player who always was in and having a go. He is one of few who enjoyed a good tackle. Sean is a most friendly player who enjoys chatting amongst the other team members, at times he would be so deep in conversation he would miss the ball and then run like Speedy Gonzalez to catch up. Sean was most enjoyable to have on the team. Alex Courtney - Alex is always fun to be around. At training he enjoys being the leader. He is the best head baller I have ever seen and is always keen to go as goalie. He always gave his best and improved his skills by doing so. Robert Crawford - Robert is a cool little dude who loves to kick goals and is an encouragement to his team mates by his team spirit. Robert and Jay's winning goals were talked about for the following three months. Jack McGrath - Jack played well at the start of the season and due to a leg injury he was unable to participate for a few games. He was always there to support the team and encourage the players. As soon as he was back he was off and running and playing well. His great sense of humour and bubbly personality kept the team in full swing. Joe McGrath - A very positive player who is willing to play all positions. He enjoys playing centre and having a good go at the ball. He is a good tackler and always has a shot at the goals at every opportunity. Jack and Joe had lots of fun confusing the coach and others by swapping identities seeing as they were twins, which was always very funny. Clive Reekie - Clive is a dedicated player who turned up to every training session in the rain, hail and shine and is still willing to practice. He also was present at every game and always there on time. He was a good goal kicker and after every goal he would show his enthusiasm by giving every player high fives. Johnnie Walker - John, our great defence player and goalie. He did particularly well at goalie and saved a lot of goals. As being my brother he always helped to set up at training and pack up. John is a really cheeky and energetic player who loves doing laps of Shurburd oval. He was the talk of the team for a while with his goal that he kicked from the half way line. Coach Sarah J.
