![]() Back (L to R): Mr. Brain, Mr. Brown, Mr. Davis (coach), Mr. Robbins Front (L to R): Blake Goodwin, Jacob Brian, Thomas Robbins, Joseph Davis, William Davis, Harry Brown, Toff Williams ![]() Season's report Kingborough Lions U/8s had a very enjoyable 2001 season experiencing 7 wins, 3 losses and 2 draws. Generally, all boys made noticeable progress with their skill levels, together with increasing confidence during on-field play. Each game was played in good spirit, with a high level of 'sportsman like' behaviour displayed by all of the boys. The players managed to have heaps of fun whatever the result of the game. "Well done boys" My thanks are conveyed to the boys and their parents for their co-operation and support over the past few months. Peter Davis (Coach) Player Review: Blake Goodwin: A late starter with the team, displayed good knowledge and skills and fitted into the team nicely. (Queensland's loss was our gain.) Thomas Robbins: Tom Robbins had the uncanny knack of being in the right place at the right time to score that badly needed goal. A solid contribution. Tom Filtness: Tom is a clever player, who has been a fine team contributor. He has improved his overall skill level during the year. Always keen to share the ball around. Joseph Davis: A determined and reliable player, who defended well and also performed up forward in the later half of the season. Harry Brown: One of the teams youngest, yet played like an 'old pro'. The opposition had trouble getting the ball out from Harry's control, especially during his attacking moves. William Davis: A consistent performer, who was always keen to quickly move the ball into a scoring position. Toff Williams: Toff made his presence felt in the latter part of the season, as his confidence grew and skills improved out of sight. A good athlete, who is sure to trouble the opposition next year. Rhys O'Neill: Our youngest player, whose confidence and skills increased each week. Prepared to mix it with the bigger boys. Well done Rhys. Aydan Pollard: A solid and skillful contributor, who was always solid in defence. Unfortunately departed for Queensland mid-season. (still waiting for transfer fees from QLD club) Jacob Brain: Jacob is a good all-rounder who is always cool in a crisis. He was very unselfish and always tried to involve his team mates in the play. |
